A very special person came home this past week from Iraq. It’s my buddy Ryan’s uncle Kevin, or as he as lovingly referred to in the family, Kevin.
Kevin just finished up over a year of duty in Iraq, so his family threw him a party and everybody showed up.
I had to work, so I was a couple hours late, but it was great to see him. I told him that I appreciate him, and that I’m very glad that he’s home safe.

Here in Utica, New York, my job entails me trying to find offsets for teller differences. Tellers in Massachusetts. Yeah. I fix mistakes from Massachusetts in New York. We call these differences “Biscuits.” Why Biscuits? Because if we can’t find a resolution, the teller has to eat it.
I love my job. It is, however, extremely difficult. I’d say I only find four out of ten differences, and I guess that’s above average.
So, what’s the reason for this post?
None, really. Just taking up space. I’m not really in a writing groove after my long break, and they say that just writing anything is better than nothing at all. I’m trying to get back into a groove, and this is the best way I can.
That and the stupid “Eating the Biscuit” joke.

Well… here’s the good news…
My department has met it’s goal and we’ve reduced the number of outstanding items on our report to a reasonable level.
Which means I’ll be available to make more blog entries.
The Bad news…
Overtime is going to continue, so my posts won’t be as frequent as when I started the blog, but I’m sure I’ll have more time to type.
After being at work for thirteen hours, you really don’t want to stick around much longer than that to write in a blog. I guess I’ll only be here ten hours a day now, instead.
Look forward to more entries soon.

If you had three hours a week on the radio in which you could do almost anything you wanted, how would you spend it?
Well… I was listening to a recording of a talk show out of Jersey City called The Best Show. The host, Tom Scharpling decided to use an hour of his time singing along with an Elton John CD.
Wow.
Sad thing was, it was actually pretty funny.
So…
Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
When are you gonna come down
When are you going to land
I should have stayed on the farm
I should have listened to my old manYou know you can’t hold me forever
I didn’t sign up with you
I’m not a present for your friends to open
This boy’s too young to be singing the bluesSo goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can’t plant me in your penthouse
I’m going back to my ploughBack to the howling old owl in the woods
Hunting the horny back toad
Oh I’ve finally decided my future lies
Beyond the yellow brick roadWhat do you think you’ll do then
I bet that’ll shoot down your plane
It’ll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet againMaybe you’ll get a replacement
There’s plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain’t got a penny
Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground
